Sanctuary
The next chamber asked nothing of her. There were no inscriptions to decipher, no hidden mechanisms, no corridors demanding a choice. Only space.
She sat beneath a pale, source-less light while the voices gathered softly around her, holding the silence together. For the first time since the Codex awakened, she did not search for meaning.
The memories loosened. Ancient rooms dissolved. The warmth beneath her skin settled into a quiet glow. Time became difficult to measure.
When she finally stood, she did not feel restored to what she had been. She felt restored to what she was becoming.
